Hello, my friend, welcome back to Walking Together. I'm so glad you've joined me today. Before we begin, take one slow breath. You don't need perfect words today. You simply need to come to God. Have you ever sat down to pray and found that you simply didn't know what to say? Perhaps your heart felt too heavy, the situation too complicated, the emotions too tangled. You wanted to pray, but the words just wouldn't come. If you've ever experienced that, you're not alone. Even the apostle Paul says We do not know what we ought to pray for. Listen to these comforting words from Romans. The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. What an extraordinary promise. Notice what Paul doesn't say. He doesn't say When you don't know how to pray, try harder or find better words. Instead, he reminds us that the Holy Spirit helps us. Prayer has never depended on our ability to say the perfect thing. It depends upon God's grace. Sometimes our deepest prayers are spoken without many words at all. Sometimes tears become prayers, silence becomes prayer. A whispered Lord becomes enough, because the Holy Spirit already understands what our hearts are trying to say. Throughout June we've been learning to walk with God. We've discovered His presence, His guidance, His wisdom, His peace. Today we discover that even our prayers are not something we carry alone. God Himself helps us pray. What incredible kindness. Perhaps today you don't know what to ask. Maybe you're carrying something too painful to explain. Can I gently encourage you? Come anyway, bring your whole heart. The Holy Spirit already knows, and he faithfully carries your prayers to the Father. Here's today's sentence to carry with you. When you don't have the words, God still hears your heart. Let's pray, Father. Thank you that you never expect perfect prayers. Thank you for giving us your Holy Spirit to help us. When words fail us, remind us that you already know our hearts. Teach us to come to you honestly, and help us trust that you hear every prayer, spoken or unspoken. In Jesus' name, amen. Thank you for walking with me today. Tomorrow we'll discover the peace that Jesus gives, a peace unlike anything the world can offer. And if you're one of our daily Bible companion subscribers, stay with me. I'd love us to spend a few more quiet minutes reflecting on the beautiful mystery of the Holy Spirit praying with us and for us.
